S.O.S. to the World
Is it capable to be really truly honest to another person? A friend, lover, or relative? From harmless white less, to full blown complicated webs of deceit. Why are we so afraid to say the truth? It's because we are afraid to be judged. To be shown a mirror that reflects who we are exactly. The truth is unforgiving. Facing it is painful. And rightfully so, it scares the shit out of everyone.
For the past few weeks, my friends and I have faced varying problems that, although different in nature, all got down to one thing...survival. Living abroad, we are far from our usual reliable walls of support. We hesitate calling our families because we don't want them to worry and we still like to pose a semblance of success here in the land yonder. Call it stupid pride but it's the one thing that we will never admit to -- defeat. We are careful to share thoughts with friends because we fear that they wouldn't be able to understand us fully, being in totally different situations. We suffer in silence because we know there is no other option but to get through the hurdle. We choose what we say to others, edit out this and that, and paint a picture not entirely representative of the truth. Why? Because we don't want to bore others with details we think are irrelevant, and more so, we want to hear only what we need to.

Surprisingly enough, even when you're own world is crumbling down at your feet, you still find the strength to carry your friends when they simply can't go on anymore. And somehow, together, you get through the hurdle. Your S.O.S. doesn't go unanswered because they understand that when you do send the message out, it means you can't take it anymore.
One day at a time. Baby steps. Life isn't so bad when you know that whatever happens, no matter how heavy you get, you have real friends who will never hesitate to carry you until you get back on your feet. Just don't get used to being carried lest you become an eternal emotional vampire. ;)
